Loose waterline tiles, missing grout and white mineral crust are all fixable. We repair the failed areas and make the joints sound again.
Pool tiles live a hard life. They sit in chemically treated water, move with the shell as the temperature changes and take sun all summer. Over time the grout loosens, tiles lose their bond and the waterline collects mineral deposits.
Catching it early matters. Water that gets behind a tile loosens its neighbours, so a single loose tile is usually a sign to look at the surrounding area, not only that one spot.
Loose and cracked tiles are lifted, the bed is cleaned and tiles are rebonded or replaced.
Failed grout is raked out and replaced with a grout suited to constant wet conditions.
We clean calcium and scale build-up from waterline tiles so the surface and joints can be assessed properly.
Perimeter and movement joints are re-formed with flexible sealant so water stays out from behind the tiles.
We check the waterline, steps, spa and surround, and mark every loose or failed area.
Waterline repairs need the water lowered. We explain how far and why for your type of pool before booking.
Loose tiles and failed grout are taken out and the surface is cleaned back to a sound bed.
Tiles are set with a pool-suitable adhesive and the joints are grouted and resealed where movement is expected.
We give you the cure time for the materials used before the water goes back up and the pool is used.
Usually not fully. Waterline work needs the level lowered below the tiles. Emptying some pool types can cause damage, so we advise on the safest approach for yours before work is booked.
Common causes are failed grout letting water behind the tile, movement in the shell and a poor original bond. Fixing only the visible tile without addressing the cause is why repairs sometimes fail.
Many pools only need targeted repairs. If the bond is failing across large areas we will tell you, and explain what a bigger job would involve.
That depends on the adhesive, grout and sealant used and on the weather. We give you the cure times for your job before the water is topped up.
