Tile Restore

Sample project

Grouting a newly tiled shower recess in Footscray

A freshly tiled shower recess was grouted with a stain-resistant product, with corners left for flexible sealant.

This is a sample write-up showing how a project is described. It is not a completed customer job.

The problem

The tiles had been laid by another trade and were ready to be finished, but the grout lines needed to be consistent and the internal corners needed to be handled properly to avoid cracking later.

What we did

  1. Cleaned excess adhesive out of the joints and checked the lines for even depth.
  2. Masked the edges and left the corners and base junctions clear for flexible sealant.
  3. Mixed the grout to the manufacturer's directions and worked it into the joints in sections.
  4. Wiped back the haze at the right moment so the grout lines stayed full and smooth.
  5. Did a final polish of the tile faces and removed the masking.

The result

The shower has clean, even grout lines and is ready for its final sealant and fittings.
